The National Forest

We have recently been working alongside Optima Infrastructure Management who commissioned WS Atkins to design a wooden viewing platform on behalf of The National Forest on an existing embankment which is located at a lay-by adjacent to the A42 Northbound carriageway near Ashby de la Zouch.

The National Forest is a major national environmental initiative to create a new forest in the East Midlands.

The aim of the project was to include both environmental and economic aspects to attract and provide, for visitors to the area.

All timber products had to be manufactured from seasoned or green English oak sourced from trees grown in The National Forest. The timber used on this project came off The Staunton Harold Estate, Ashby de la Zouch.
